On Practicing Recovery
On Practicing Recovery presents recovery as an ongoing, non-linear process shaped by memory, interior
life, and domestic space. Through photography and video installations, the works dwell in the aftermath,
where restoration unfolds through repetition, quiet gestures, and sustained attention. The exhibition
reflects on women’s inner lives as sites of care, survival, and continuous renewal, inviting viewers into
tender yet unsettling narratives that reveal the subtle emotional pressures of domestic spaces.
The works are by Reem Ali (b. 1996), a Saudi visual artist based in Paris. With a background in Biology,
her careful, observant approach informs her photography and video installations, through which she
explores the duality of intimacy and isolation, creating reflective spaces that engage with the layered
complexities of human experience.
Following successful presentations in Paris galleries, On Practicing Recovery makes its Middle East debut
in Dubai, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience Reem Ali’s introspective and immersive
work for the first time in the region.
